Paul DiMeo Bio
Paul DiMeo began his home remodeling career at age five, after the family lost their home to a fire. Today, he is one of the designers on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He was born in Media, Pennsylvania, into a family with four other children. He went to Point Park College in Pittsburgh, and there, he sharpened his design skills by building Pittsburgh Playhouse sets. During his college years, he was also the American Dance Ensemble's stage manager.
He moved to New York City in 1980, and while living in the East Village, became friends with Lynne Michaels and Harry Baum, who owned the Open Space Theatre. During his time there, he learned how to be resourceful and furthered his set building skills. DiMeo also worked for the Yiddish Theater, Carnegie Hall, and numerous other houses both on and off Broadway. As he became settled in New York City, DiMeo discovered his talent for helping people. He worked to renovate brownstones and lofts in Harlem, Greenwich Village and the East Village; he has renovated homes lived in by Aaron Burr and Madonna.
After living in New York for seventeen years, DiMeo relocated to LA. There, he lived in an abandoned firehouse downtown, renovating it himself. He went on to renovate business buildings and personal homes of some of Hollywood's elite; he has worked for Glenn Close, Arnold Rifkin, Ann Archer, the William Morris Agency, and many others. Currently, he works on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and he also does the day to day running of his event marketing company, High Meadows Production. DiMeo currently lives in LA with wife Kelly, and they are in the process of renovating their own home which will take hime some time of the set.
